Taylor Swifts Switches Up Her Hair Style

Taylor Swift, your favorite artist’s favorite award winner, traded in her signature curls for a more grown-up look. Taylor is now rocking her hair straight with a blunt bang…I almost didn’t recognize her. The little starlet turns 20 on Sunday so I guess the look comes right in time for her voyage out of her teen years and into her 20somethings. In any event, Taylor was spotted in NYC she’s in town because she is set to take the stage for tonight’s Z100 Jingle Ball.

Taylor Swift on SNL

taylor-swift-saturday-night-live

Taylor Swift appeared on Saturday Night Live last night. She performed a short musical monologue entitled “Musical Monologue (LaLaLa)” in which she talked about her anxiety of hosting SNL and the range of things people expect her to talk about but she wailed,” I won’t talk about that in my monologue”.

Taylor referenced her break-up with Joe Jonas and her VMA stagecrasher, Kanye West. “You might be expecting say, something bad about Kanye, and how he ran up on the stage, and ruined my VMA monologue. But there’s nothing left to say, ’cause everything is OK, I’ve got security lining the stage for my SNL monologue.” I’d say Kanye made Taylor relevant to hoards of folks that weren’t exposed to her music and while he made a really asinine move at the VMAs he has gotten her a lot of buzz.

I’m just saying.

Conan: "MTV has a lower tolerance for bad behavior than the U.S. Congress”

conan_obrienInterestingly enough a joke made by late-night comedian/talk show host, Conan O’Brien, really struck a chord with me the other night when he said: “MTV threw Kanye West out after he grabbed Taylor Swift’s microphone. MTV has a lower tolerance for bad behavior than the U.S. Congress.”

True indeed it seems Kanye is left to apologize four times in various mediums for his unquestionably rude behavior, yet, when elected official, Joe Wilson,  disrespects the Command-in-Chief and for many his one apology suffices. Seriously? Something is wrong with that.

I was sent an OP-Ed piece today, by Maureen Dowd, that does attempt to speak on the issue of relations in this country and harps in on some interesting things, like, “Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president – no Democrat ever shouted “liar” at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq – convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it.”

You Lie

You Lie

Here’s a bit of “Boy, Oh Boy”:

The normally nonchalant Barack Obama looked nonplussed, as Nancy Pelosi glowered behind.

Surrounded by middle-aged white guys – a sepia snapshot of the days when such pols ran Washington like their own men’s club – Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!” at a president who didn’t.

But, fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy!

The outburst was unexpected from a milquetoast Republican backbencher from South Carolina who had attracted little media attention. Now it has made him an overnight right-wing hero, inspiring “You lie!” bumper stickers and T-shirts.

The congressman, we learned, belonged to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, led a 2000 campaign to keep the Confederate flag waving above South Carolina’s state Capitol and denounced as a “smear” the true claim of a black woman that she was the daughter of Strom Thurmond, the ‘48 segregationist candidate for president. Wilson clearly did not like being lectured and even rebuked by the brainy black president presiding over the majestic chamber.

I’ve been loath to admit that the shrieking lunacy of the summer – the frantic efforts to paint our first black president as the Other, a foreigner, socialist, fascist, Marxist, racist, Commie, Nazi; a cad who would snuff old people; a snake who would indoctrinate kids – had much to do with race.

I tended to agree with some Obama advisers that Democratic presidents typically have provoked a frothing response from paranoids – from Father Coughlin against F.D.R. to Joe McCarthy against Truman to the John Birchers against J.F.K. and the vast right-wing conspiracy against Bill Clinton.

But Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president – no Democrat ever shouted “liar” at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq – convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it.

“A lot of these outbursts have to do with delegitimizing him as a president,” said Congressman Jim Clyburn, a senior member of the South Carolina delegation. Clyburn, the man who called out Bill Clinton on his racially tinged attacks on Obama in the primary, pushed Pelosi to pursue a formal resolution chastising Wilson.

Check out the rest of the piece, here.

What's all the f*cking fussing for? Obama said what you were thinking-Kanye is a "Jackass"

Okay, okay Barack Obama is the President of the United States but also a human being! So now there is an audio release of our Prez calling Kanye a “Jackass” woopty doo!

On Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and in casual conversations over the past few days I know that in some capacity you’ve heard/ read/ thought that Kanye West’s actions were utterly frustrating, random, or dumb as hell. I’m sure someone has called the situation like they’ve seen it. We as a country have so much “stuff” going on, and this conversation is getting too much play….but who am I not to play it up like everyone else, eh?

Oh well….if you haven’t heard it here it goes.

What do you think?

I can’t
I cannot.
I refuse to be bothered anymore-after today-maybe.

Kanye Apologizes for the 4th Time

So on his blog Kanye issued two statements apologizing for his rude behavior at the VMAs, then again on Jay Leno last night Kanye sent his sincerest apology to Taylor Swift, and now today Kanye called Taylor to offer an olive branch and was given according to an interview Taylor had after her appearance on The View.

Taylor told ABC News Radio’s Andrea Dressdale “Kanye did call me. He was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology.” Whne Andrea D. asked if “going down the road, everything will be all right between you guys,” Swift replied, “Yeah, definitely”

So I guess its safe to assume now that ‘Ye has apologized four times and Taylor has accepted his apology all is well?

Hmmmm,

I can’t
I cannot
I refuse to speculate.

Kanye Gets Emotional in Interview with Jay Leno *Video*

Jay Leno’s first show surely was upgraded a notch when he snagged a opportunity to interview Kanye West about his actions at the last night’s VMAs. the interview ended up being surprisingly emotional once Jay Leno asked Kanye what his mother would have said about what he did last night. Kanye took a few moments to compose himself and looked as though he had fight back tears. The emotion Kanye evoked were obviously real and heartfelt. Losing a parent must be extremely difficult, here’s a part of Kanye’s explanation:

Jay Leno Interviews Kanye

“So many celebrities, they never take the time off,” Kanye said. “I’ve never taken the time off to really — you know, just music after music and tour after tour. I’m just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt. My dream of what awards shows are supposed to be, ’cause, and I don’t try to justify it because I was just in the wrong. That’s period. But I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve.”

All is forgiven in my book. Kanye says he wants to apologize to Taylor Swift in person I hope that he takes the time he needs.

P.S. I sincerely think Chris Brown’s publicist needs to take a note from Kanye’s PR person. When ish hits the fan as it sometimes will address it early to squash some of the backlash.

Kanye Swiftly Apologizes to Taylor

Kanye West took his apology to his blog, to apologize for his behavior at the MTV Video Music Awards. I guess his excessive use of CAPS means that he is truly sorry?

“I’M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD’VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED! I LIKE THE LYRICS ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER AND SHE’S IN THE BLEACHERS! …………………… I’M IN THE WRONG FOR GOING ON STAGEAND TAKING AWAY FROM HER MOMENT!
"Taylor, I'm really happy for you. I'll let you finish,"
