Charles Barkley Scared Straight + Alicia Keys Drunk Dialing on SNL

Last night (Jan. 9) marked the first episode of Saturday Night Live of 2010. Host Charles ‘Teach Me How To Read Cue Cards‘ Barkley and musical guest Alicia Keys. The digital shorts are always the highlight of the show and Alicia Keys’ short drunk-dialing Andy Samberg’s flamboyant and awkward character was cute. Charles Barkley’s Scared Straight skit with Kenan Thompson, was one of his ‘better’ skits on SNL last night. Peep both videos,

According to TMZ, actress Brittany Murphy died today of cardiac arrest, she was 32-years-old.
A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.
We’re told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Murphy starred in such films as “Clueless,” “8 Mile,” and “Don’t Say a Word.”
Sources tell TMZ Brittany Murphy’s mom discovered her unconscious in the shower. We’re told when paramedics arrived, they quickly determined Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and immediately administered CPR. They continued CPR in route to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center – several miles away — and Murphy was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
We’re told the LA County Coroner’s is picking up Murphy’s body from Cedars later today and will launch an investigation.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family. I loved her work in ‘Girl, Interrupted’,'Clueless’ and “8 Mile.”
SNL Tiger Woods Skit (Video)

This past weekend, Saturday Night Live featured a skit poking fun at the situation with Tiger Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren. The skit made light of the rumors that Tiger’s wife attacked him and showed Tiger (played by Kenan Thompson) holding numerous press conferences with an angry wife (played by Blake Lively) in the background.
The skit cuts in and out with Tiger suffering more “accidental injuries” as the skit continues on. The racy part about the skit is that this is essentially is making fun of domestic violence since it is clear the Elin is the one inflicting these injuries on Tiger. Secondly, this was the same show that Rihanna appeared on and we’ve all been privy to the 20/20 interviews and year-long fall out surrounding that issue. Was it distasteful to air the Tiger Woods skit? Was it insensitive to perform it on the weekend that Rihanna was a special guest? Watch the video and decide:

Taylor Swift appeared on Saturday Night Live last night. She performed a short musical monologue entitled “Musical Monologue (LaLaLa)” in which she talked about her anxiety of hosting SNL and the range of things people expect her to talk about but she wailed,” I won’t talk about that in my monologue”.
Taylor referenced her break-up with Joe Jonas and her VMA stagecrasher, Kanye West. “You might be expecting say, something bad about Kanye, and how he ran up on the stage, and ruined my VMA monologue. But there’s nothing left to say, ’cause everything is OK, I’ve got security lining the stage for my SNL monologue.” I’d say Kanye made Taylor relevant to hoards of folks that weren’t exposed to her music and while he made a really asinine move at the VMAs he has gotten her a lot of buzz.
I’m just saying.

Well, on the political front Saturday Night Live’s Obama skit addressed some of the right winged commentary that Obama is full of socialist agenda and that the Prez has not accomplished anything in his time in office. After displaying a DONE and NOT DONE checklist, its noted that there is a bright side and lists the following accomplishments:
- Cash for clunkers program stimulated the economy…. for Japan
- Killed a fly on tv
- Brought a White Police Officer and Black Professor together for a beer

Hate it or love it Lady Gaga gives a performance filled with interesting costume wardrobe selection, dancing and whatever else you wanna call it. I’m intrigued.
Gaga performed two songs on SNL “Love Game” and “Paparazzi“.
