9-year-old Boy Stabbed To Death in Harlem
Jan 2nd
Last night, 9-year-old Anthony Maldonado was stabbed to death in Harlem. The boy was visiting family and was stabbed in the chest and later died. The incident happened at 75 La Salle Street, where Anthony’s relatives lived.
Sphere: Related ContentAbout 3:30 a.m., fourth-grader Anthony Maldonado knocked on the door of his uncle’s room in the Grant Houses and collapsed with a chest wound.
“Uncle, uncle, I’ve been stabbed,” he said.
Paramedics rushed the boy to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital but he couldn’t be saved. His grief-stricken mother identified his body there about 8 a.m.
The NYPD said no arrests have been made, but police sources said a man in his 20s was being questioned at the 26th Precinct stationhouse.
“This person is probably not going to be going home tonight,” the source said.
Cops were searching elevator shafts and Dumpsters in the housing project last night, apparently looking for the murder weapon.
Anthony had been visiting his grandfather for the holidays.
“He was a nice boy,” the uncle said.

I wouldn’t be able to draw my hand if you have me 6 days, yet 35-year-old Stephen Wiltshire is able to draw the entire NYC skyline from MEMORY after only having a brief look of the sweeping landscape.
Stephen took a 20 minute helicopter ride above the city on Friday and since then he has been working on recreating the from the memory of that sight,”he has been sketching and drawing a mighty panorama of the city, rendering the city’s 305 square miles along an arc of paper that is 19 feet long.” He is working publicly in a gallery at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
You can watch his live-stream of Stephen here.

Fashion’s Night Out was a uber success. SoHo was humming with the likes of fashionista and the general thirsty folks! Stores throughout Manhattan had giveaways including cosmetics, baked goods, libations, and much more. My liver thanks Anna Wintour for dreaming up such a wondrous event, my feet well they’ve seen better days. We hear that this may become a tradition every Thursday before Fashion week…I can dig it! Let’s make it happen Miss Wintour!
Here’s some of the events you may have missed (via Examiner):
H&M Herald Square: Summon your inner model! Miss J from “America’s Next Top Model” will be present for personal runway lessons.
Bergdorf Goodman’s: The Olsen twins will tend bar for the evening while Andre Leon Talley, Alexander Wang, Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman, and Zac Posen are scheduled to be in attendance.
Bloomingdales: Come meet Gwen Stefani!
Teen Vogue invades Bleecker street: Who better to perform than Gossip Girl’s own little J. Taylor Momsen and her band, the Pretty Reckless will provide the entertainment for the night.
Manolo Blanhnik: Meet the designer at his store for a night of fun and surprises.
Longchamp’s Great Gatsby party: Lily Cole will host while Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra provide live jazz music. Lykke Li will be spinning the tracks.
Bird Boutique: Skip across to Brooklyn for a girl-power block party hosted by design team Vena Cava.
Rag & Bone: Model Jessica Stam will fill in as cashier for the night.
Prada: Vogue’s Grace Coddington will be in attendance and Rapture is scheduled to perform.
Saks Fifth Avenue: As if Donna Karan, Bobbi Brown, Carolina Herrera, and Peter Som aren’t reason enough to swarm the fifth avenue flagship— the store plans to hand out over 1,000 cosmetic giveaways.
DKNY: Model Coco Rocha, (my personal favorite), will show off her talent as a dancer with an in-store performace.
Giuseppe Zanotti: Katy Perry will make an appearance.
