Fashion Maven: Alexander McQueen Commits Suicide

According to Daily Mail, the famed designer Alexander McQueen committed suicide, he was 40 years old.
British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has been found dead after taking his own life.
The 40-year-old committed suicide just three years after his close friend, Isabella Blow – who plucked him from obscurity and helped him become a star – killed herself.
A source at McQueen’s office this afternoon confirmed his death, saying: ‘It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.’
His death comes just days before the start of London Fashion Week and weeks before he was due to unveil his new collection at Paris Fashion Week on March 9.

Actress Brittany Murphy Dead at 32, Cardiac Arrest

According to TMZ, actress Brittany Murphy died today of cardiac arrest, she was 32-years-old.
A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.
We’re told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Murphy starred in such films as “Clueless,” “8 Mile,” and “Don’t Say a Word.”
Sources tell TMZ Brittany Murphy’s mom discovered her unconscious in the shower. We’re told when paramedics arrived, they quickly determined Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and immediately administered CPR. They continued CPR in route to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center – several miles away — and Murphy was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
We’re told the LA County Coroner’s is picking up Murphy’s body from Cedars later today and will launch an investigation.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family. I loved her work in ‘Girl, Interrupted’,'Clueless’ and “8 Mile.”

Janet Jackson & Jermaine Dupri have that on again off again love thing happening. The two split this past summer, around the time of Michael’s death, and now according to Bossip, they are back together and ready to make it official.

Patrick Swayze, 57, has died after a nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Swayze is best known for his roles in the 1987 film “Dirty Dancing” and the 1990 film “Ghost.” In a statement released earlier today by his publicist Annett Wolf, “Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months.” Rest in peace.

In Case You Missed It: Shooting death of Steve McNair

The shooting death of former NFL quarterback Steve McNair raised questions Sunday about his relationship with the 20-year-old woman whose body was found alongside him in his downtown condominium. McNair, a four-time Pro Bowl selection who was married with four children, was found Saturday with multiple gunshot wounds on a sofa in his living room. The woman was killed by a single gunshot wound and a pistol was discovered near her, police said.
Authorities didn’t immediately say who was to blame for the killings, but they weren’t looking for any suspects.
Police do not believe McNair’s wife was involved, spokesman Don Aarons said. Mechelle McNair, mother of two of his four sons, was expected to collect her husband’s belongings from authorities. Funeral arrangements were not expected to be finalized until Monday afternoon at the earliest.

Many news reports are speculating this was a murder-suicide but authorities have yet to confirm those reports. Our thoughts go out to the family and loved ones of both victims regardless of the circumstance.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…
The saga and public emotional outcry continues today with radio stations playing Michael Jackson’s hits all day, television shows dedicating segments to chronicle the life & achievements of a legend, and newspapers publishing spreads with pictures, record sale stats and memorable moments in the life of MJ. This morning I have had such wonderful memories and even teared up a bit thinking back to so many times I watched Smooth Criminal and attempted that forward move and fell! The magic was in the shoes is a lesson I just learned today but nonetheless reveled in amazement because no one could do what he did!
I thought about the Michael Jackson parodies on In Living Color and about how no matter how much fortune and fame he amassed in the end, I think he way have died with a heavy heart (no pun intended). The saying is true money cannot by happiness, and though I reminisce on the times watching his dance moves made me happy I am saddened to think that with all the smiles he helped bring to us over the years was he truly happy?
Death is always such a cold reminder that we are mortal and are not promised the rest of today or tomorrow. We have to make the most of the days we have and appreciate the happiness in our hearts and make our lives beautiful. It is my desire that when my time comes I can so passionately be remembered by millions of people bringing more smiles than tears to the faces of those I leave behind, and know that I have left a solid footprint in this world by making it a better place.

Bill:”Michael Jackson is a Black American and bleaches his skin, fine, but answer me this…If he is such a Black American icon why did he have his kids with white women.”
Marc: That’s a personal matter. That doesn’t make him any less Black. There is no Blackness meter here. You don’t become less Black when you have white kid”
Bill: “You don’t become an African American icon when you do something like that!”
Marc: ” No you become an African American icon for producing the greatest music, and being the greatest entertainer ever, for being an extraordinary humanitarian..that’s why
Bill: No you just become an American icon for that, not a Black American icon.
Marc:Oh that’s ridic.
Bill:You’re an American icon.
Marc:It’s not either or. He is an American idol (icon). He is quintessentially American but he is also undeniably black. You can’t take black from him just because he has white kids.
